Inspiration
Now that summer has finally arrived it’s difficult to remember that when writing Escape to the Riviera, conjuring up the sultry heat of the Cote D’Azur in the midst of winter was quite a tall order. My answer was to to pin a selection of pictures above my desk to remind me of places I’ve visited and how I felt. It helps bring back the memory of hot sun on my skin and the delicious holiday lethargy of not having to be anywhere or do anything.
I spend a lot of time thinking about locations and often to get me started, or maybe its to delay starting as its a great procrastination technique, I pull together a mood board to evoke the right type of setting and to get the place firmly in my head.
This was the first of a series of a collages I created when I started the very first draft, to give me a flavour of the area and some of the scenes I planned to write.
