Thrilled to bits!
Covent Garden in the Snow was inspired by two classical musician friends. Their work and life is so different from most people I’ve met and I was completely fascinated by the idea of creating a character who’s job was their passion. As a result, my make-up artist Tilly, who works backstage in a London based, fictional, opera house, is her own worst enemy. The passion that makes her a success in one way, blinds her to other parts of her life, leading her to make some fundamental mistakes.
Like Tilly, Covent Garden is also my absolute favourite part of London and no Christmas is ever complete without a visit to the Piazza, treading carefully on the cobbles (I am one of the clumsiest people on the planet) to mooch among the market stalls, check out the Lego display and discover the annual decoration theme. This year, Christmas came early when I spotted Covent Garden in the Snow, in the Covent Garden brand of Waterstones.
I’d like to say a massive thank you to all the readers who’ve bought the book, been in touch and/or have reviewed the book.
(I’d also like to point out, that despite the title I had no idea we’d have quite so much snow this winter!)
